NOSTALGIA, Motacilla alba
Bronce sobre arado antiguo, hierro y madera, 89 x 120 x 70 cm.
‘Recuerdo que cuando era un muchacho me encantaba ir a arar en otoño. En las puntas de los surcos ponía costillitas –pequeñas trampas- y en cada surco pillaba un pajarito.
Recuerdo como cuando araba, esa noche, comía pajaritos fritos. En aquella época el campo estaba lleno de pajaritos.
Recuerdo como mi padre me enseñó a poner las costillitas y como me decía que su padre le había enseñado a él…
Ahora, con los herbicidas y pesticidas… no se pueden poner costillitas… ya no quedan pajaritos. El campo está callado’

'I remember when I was a boy, I loved going to plough in autumn. On the tops of the furrows I placed `costillitas’ - small traps - and in each of them a little bird got trapped.
I remember that the night I ploughed I could eat fried little birds. In that time the field was full of little birds.
I remember how my father taught me to place the `costillitas’ and he told me that his father had taught him to do it before …
Nowadays, with the use of herbicides and pesticides … you cannot use `costillitas’ … there are no little birds. The field is silent´.
